How to get the landlord to evict their renters?

วันอังคารที่ 9 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552

There was a foreclosed house recently sold in our neighborhood that someone purchased to rent. We believe these 4 young gentleman are dealing drugs. Last week at about 11pm there was a drive by shooting at the house they live at. This is a family neighborhood. The landlord was contacted and advised that they have a year lease and they were not going to do anything. Is there something we can do as a neighborhood to get these renters out?

You can have them arrested, but you can not have them evicted.

Landlords that allow drug dealing on their property can face lawsuits from other tenants, neighbors, and local authorities. In many states landlords have been held liable for large sums of money in damages for failing to evict drug dealing tenants. A landlord can also face the loss of the property by government confiscation.

If you can prove that these people are selling drugs you and your neighbors can file a suit against the landlord.

In the City of Los Angeles the government has seized large apartment complexes from their owners when the owners have allowed tenants deal drugs and didn't evict them.

It's possible that the landlord actually knows the renters, so be careful. While I can appreciate that you don't want this kind of activity in your neighbourhood (who does?), you also should be aware of the potential safety risks of trying to run them out of the neighbourhood.

I'm not really sure what you can do to get the renters out of your neighbourhood. If there are reasons to believe they are dealing drugs, this is obviously a crime, so perhaps a phone call to the police is in order?

The laws are different for each state. I suggest you contact your local housing authority and find out what the laws are for renters. They will let you know who to contact. You might want to contact local law enforcement and let them know what you're witnessing. Document everything that you see. Consider forming a neighborhood watch program. Your local law enforcement should have the information on how to organize that. If you all stick together, you can make a difference.

I wish you all the best. Everyone deserves a safe neighborhood to come home to.

Call the police on them when you see illegal activities, be careful not getting caught in the crossfire if it even exists. Let the police handle it, you shouldn't make it your personal mission to eradicate anyone just because they're different and don't fit in with the rest of the neighborhood, let them be as long as they're not causing trouble.

The landlord can't evict them without cause, or the landlord would be guilty of breaking the lease.

You need to get the police involved in this one to have any effect. But you'll need more than "belief". Start monitoring, and gathering evidence.

call the police get some proof with pics or a video the cops will arrest them and BAM their gone and the land lord HAS to rent there apartment to someone else.

good luck!!!!!
